I've got to look at my clothes and see what I need. I am a born and raised Southern Californian and moving to the UK will be a climate shocker. How's the weather in Southampton? Will sweaters work or does it rain too much and I need rain boots? Does it snow there; I'm from SoCal and I've never seen snow up close or touched it (seriously).
My flight to the UK was supposed to be on October 1st, but I have moved up my flight to September 25th to go to International Week. Apparently I'm not the only student to realize MAs are about the same price as home and only a year (my course is at least).
I've been away from my family before but I always had my car and only two freeways to get back home. A plane ticket is a bit more permanent. Ah well, no use worrying about it now, that's what International Week is for I guess.
I know I'll meet new people and spend time with them, I already was the new person four years ago; I just have this oddness clouding my departure I keep feeling. Hmm... too bad I don't have anyone around to talk to about my anxiety.
My aunt just returned from a two week stint across Italy and hated it. Apparently my family members don't prefer anywhere beyond the Atlantic (I've heard of similar disappointments from my grandmother, cousin..). My friend Molly went to Europe for two months during the summer and loved it, but then her parents flew over to visit her, and when she returned she left her boyfriend.
Sorry, I'm rambling with my keyboard. I do that sometimes.
Blah. I'm out- I'll ramble again soon- better info later at the end of September- I'll be abroad for the first time by then.
